Gang Culture is growing amongst our young people in Kirklees. With the modern technology in place young people have effective tools to communicate and form a gang.
The kudos is its cool to be a member of a gang, sadly formation of these groups has implications on the welfare of young people. Home Office statistics shows increasing amount of young people are carrying weapons for their self-protection. Sadly when a confrontational situation occurs the weapons are used which has resulted in serious injures and deaths amongst the 16 – 25 age groups.
My view is Education and Diversionary activities needs to be in place in mainstream education to educate these groups.
